Amaraba! My name is Jason Rosenfeld, but I also go by Puumaya, which in Dagbane, a language spoken in Northern Ghana, translates into Satisfaction. I was given this name when I first arrived in the town of Diare to begin 2 years of service as a Peace Corps Volunteer. According to legend, the wives of one Dagomba chief delivered girl after girl after girl, but all the chief wanted was a son to carry on his legacy. Finally, after many years, one of his wives finally gave birth to a boy and without hesitation, the chief named him Puumaya…he was finally satisfied!
I have had many wonderful experiences traveling the globe, of which the past 10 years have been spent exploring Africa. I would like to now share some of my stories and adventures with you, while also sharing my thoughts about current events, international development and global health. I hope that you enjoy!

This is probably not the place to leave a ten page “comment” about the last 8 years, so I’ll just say hello. Blog looks great and has some interesting reading. I’m usually much more of a light reader, but I recently read “Banker to the Poor”. The book shared your same concerns about how the developed countries choose to help the third world. A really good read. Wonderful to hear and see your doing well. Christy has just ruined the last Harry Potter book for me.
Cheers!

Yo Puumaya,
Any ideas as to where you’re going to be June & July? I’m not starting work until mid-August, so I’m looking for some part of the globe to meander around in for a couple of months after graduation . . . it would be nice if some friends were nearby as well.
Hope the work is going well, Zimbabwe sounds like a great experience. Hello to Christy.
